Studio Scenes

About

Presenting your work can sometimes be more difficult than creating it. Even though you have created the perfect 3D model, you still need to consider the positional relationship between your camera, 3D model and lights.

I have studied how professional photographers work with lights, and have applied my knowledge of digital automation to create a more flexible rendering environment. Using 3Ds Max and V-Ray I ended up creating two scenes intended for realistic product rendering. By creating dynamic cameras and light sources, I have managed to find a solution that allows me to quickly explore many different moods within each scene. I have also exposed the most important properties for the lights, cameras and materials which allows for rapid customization.

The scene with the white backdrop is using a 3-point lighting setup. This allows the 3D model to be perfectly lit from all sides. The fill lights play a big part in this scene as it creates a more balanced appearance by softening the shadows created by the main light.

The scene with the black backdrop is using a more advanced 5-point lighting setup. This scene is perfect for 3D models that require some form of backlight, as it separates the model from the background and enhance the edge highlights.
